And so it begins...
/I want to let you in on something that I've been working on for quite a while: a new book of my crochet designs! This project isn't going to be availabe until the Fall of 2014, but I'll give you a sneak peak anyway. Yesterday was day 1 of meeting with my publisher in person for a photo shoot for the instructional techniques section! I'll be sure to include some photos below since pictures are so much more interesting than words. I'll try to update you as I learn more of this process.
Photographing step-by-step crochet instructions with Christine in the studio.
My editor, Noel Rivera - One smart, talented lady!
On the way to Cincinnati I was able to visit a dear, dear friend in Kentucky. This beautiful lady is Carolyn Stone, the mother of my best friend during my childhood and the woman who patiently taught me how to understand crochet patterns.
Oh how I love this old town! Cincinnati, Ohio, the birthplace of both of my parents, and the home of my publishing company.
After traveling to Winchester, KY; Louisville, KY; Cincinnati, OH; and Lynchburg, VA, I'm finally home sweet home! It was quite a week, filled with a photo shoot of techniques & stitch patterns. On Tuesday night I even had a chance to see one of my favorite tennis players, Roger Federer, play a match at the Western Southern Open in Mason, OH, which was only 10 minutes away from my hotel! On Wednesday I had dinner with cousins I haven't seen in over 30 years. On Thursday I traveled to Lynchburg to help my daughter (and budding crochet designer) Becky settle in for her first away from home college experience at Liberty University. If that wasn't enough, I even got to meet Ronald McDonald on my way home! I'm really looking forward to crawling up into a comfortable chair with my crochet hook and family this evening - even though a part of my heart is still in Lynchburg...
I was able to visit a Hobby Lobby for the first time while in Blue Ash, OH.
Christine P. takes a materials photo for the crochet book...
Here's a sneak peek at what she was shooting. A lot of hard work goes into the seemingly simpliest things...
Getting a stitch pattern shot from one of the sweaters...
All the projects for the upcoming book - but you'll have to wait until next year to see what's in these boxes!
I love the saying on this sign in the studio.
Watching one of my favorite tennis players, Roger Federer, at the Western Southern Open. He really is "poetry in motion!"
I even got to meet Ronald McDonald in person on my way home!
